I keep this simple, like a well-prepared measurement: I collect as little as possible, I tell you what I observe, and nothing non-essential happens until you say yes. This page explains what data this site processes and the choices you have.

Who I am

This site is operated by Abacas (Albert Jorissen), based in Huldenberg, Belgium. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, use the contact page.

Cookies and analytics

A qubit only resolves when it's measured, and I only measure with your consent. I use these categories of storage:

  • Strictly necessary. A small record of your cookie choice is kept in your browser's local storage so I don't ask again and so I can honour a "no", and I store data needed to keep the site secure and protect it against abuse and automated attacks. These are essential to operating the site safely, need no permission, and are always on.
  • Analytics (optional, off by default). If you accept, I load Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. I enable IP anonymisation, I don't use it to identify you, and it is never loaded until you opt in. Decline and it stays collapsed: no analytics cookies are set at all.

You can change your mind at any time: clearing this site's data in your browser removes your stored choice, and the banner will ask again on your next visit.

Information you send me

If you contact me, I receive the details you choose to provide so I can reply. My interactive tools (the Key Cracker and the Website Check) analyse the input you submit to return a result; I don't use that input to build a profile of you.

Legal basis and your rights

I process analytics data on the basis of your consent, and any correspondence on the basis of my legitimate interest in answering you. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access, correct or erase your data, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Belgium, the Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données).
